3 LITH Business Cited For Selling Alcohol To Minors

The Lake in the Hills Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks at businesses in town last week.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department cited three businesses for selling alcohol to a minor during recent compliance checks. On Nov. 20, the Algonquin Police Department along with the Lake in the Hills Police Department conducted compliance checks of businesses that sell alcohol throughout the village, according to a news release from the Lake in the Hills Police Department.

The operation involved sending minors into area liquor establishments in an attempt to purchase alcohol, police said. A total of 30 retailers were inspected and 27 were found to be compliant, according to a news release.

The three businesses that allegedly sold alcohol to a minor were: Alfredo's Pizza, 4560 W. Algonquin Road in Lake in the Hills; DM Burger, 9441 Ackman Road in Lake in the Hills; and Thorntons, 2265 W. Algonquin Road in Lake in the Hills, according to a news release from the village.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department offers the Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) program as a proactive step in reducing illegal consumption by minors, authorities said.
