Algonquin Commons to Allow Dogs in Outdoor Areas and in Some Stores Starting on June 1

The shopping center announced last week that dogs would soon be allowed into some stores and outdoor areas.

ALGONQUIN, IL - Starting on June 1, dogs will be welcomed to outdoor areas at the Algonquin Commons and into 20 different retailers, the local mall announced last week.

There will be dog water bowls and pet waste stations located throughout the mall. Retailers that will be allowing dogs inside will post “dog-friendly stickers,” according to a May 12 announcement from the Algonquin Commons.

The Northwest Herald reports the following retailers have agreed to allow dogs inside starting on June 1: 2nd Wind, American Eagle, Bath & Body Works, Charming Charlie, Chico’s, Clark’s, DSW Shoes, GNC, Half Price Books, Hollister, J.Jill, Jared, Old Navy, Pottery Barn, Tillys, Ubreak Ifix, Victoria’s Secret, White House/Black Market, Yankee Candles and Zales.

Only dogs will be welcome at the mall and service animals are also welcome. Pets must be on a leash and must remains with their owner/customer at all times.

Other rules include:

  • Pet must be at least 8 weeks old and all shots must be current
  • Pet must be odorless, harmless, not disruptive, not destructive or loud
  • Pets should be well-behaved and not aggressive to people
  • Pets must be flea free
  • Customer/owners must clean up after their pet
  • Customer/owners should not let their pet approach another customer unless mutually agreeable
  • Retailers may use their own discretion in welcoming or asking a pet to leave their store or restaurant
