Algonquin Couple Died From Blunt Force Trauma: Coroner

Authorities say Maxim Parnov killed his mother, Elvira Almen, and stepfather, Peter Almen.

ALGONQUIN, IL — Blunt force trauma lead to the deaths of a married couple in Algonquin and a 36-year-old Algonquin man now faces murder charges in connection with the killings.

Maxim Parnov faces four counts of first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of his mother, Elvira Almen, 56, and his stepfather, Peter Almen, 64, according to media reports. The couple was found dead last week following a well-being check by police in Algonquin.

Prosecutors say Parnov and the couple were arguing prior to the incident, according to Shaw Media. Parnov also faces concealment of a homicide charges for allegations he put Elvira's body in a freezer and Peter's body in a cabinet inside their home in the 400 block of LaFox Drive.

He then used a UHaul truck to transport the freezer and the cabinet, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in McHenry County Circuit Court.

Police launched their investigation Tuesday after they were not able to initially locate Elvira and Peter during a well-being check. Their bodies were found the next day.

An autopsy performed Thursday showed both died from blunt force trauma, according to the McHenry County Coroner's Office.

Parnov was arrested Thursday in Wisconsin. He remains behind bars at the Kenosha County Jail and an extradition hearing is set for Wednesday, according to online records. His bail has been set at $5 million.

Authorities arrested Parnov on a warrant for concealment of homicide charges Thursday morning in Salem, Wisconsin. On Friday, four additional counts of first-degree murder were filed against Parnov.
