Algonquin Library District Considers Massive Expansion

Project plans include interactive play areas for kids, a teenage area and more meeting spaces.

The Algonquin Library Board of Trustees is planning to meet this weekend to discuss options for a massive expansion project that could add more than 8,000 square feet of space to the library’s main branch and cost over $7 million, the Northwest Herald reports. Additions to the library could include a teenage area, interactive play areas for kids and more meeting spaces and computer classrooms.

The project would also include about $50,000 in improvements to the library district’s East Gate Branch, according to the newspaper. Trustees are expected to meet this weekend during the board’s strategic-planning retreat to discuss long-term planning goals.
