Big R Department Store Ditches Plans to Move Into Former Dominick's on Randall Road

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - Big R department store will not be coming to Randall Road in Lake in the Hills.

The department store, which sells hunting and fishing equipment, lawn and gardening tools and sporting goods, had presented plans in May with the hopes of moving into the former Dominick’s location at Randall and Algonquin roads in Lake in the Hills. But LITH Economic Development Coordinator George Hahne told the Northwest Herald store officials have since backed out of that plan.

“Very suddenly, they sent me a one-sentence text saying, ‘We’re no longer interested,’” Hahne told the newspaper.

Village officials are now working with a new business that is very close to deciding whether it will move into the former Dominick’s location, according to the article.
