UPDATE: LITH Releases Map of Area Affected by Boil Order

The boil order was issued Sunday. It is expected to be lifted within 48 hours.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - A precautionary boil order has been issued for homes east of Crystal Lake Road in Lake in the Hills, village officials said Sunday. The village on Monday morning released the following map detailing locations affected by the boil order.

The boil order was issued after a number of residents on the east side of the village began to "notice diminished water pressure," according to a village of LITH press release. Employees with the village's water division responded and found the water level in the the water tower on the east side of town was extremely low.

The problem was immediately fixed and the water supply has been restored, village officials said. The boil order was issued as a precautionary measure for homes affected by the low water pressure east of Crystal Lake Road. Those affected by the boil order were expected to receive a letter on their front door Sunday evening.

"There is little reason to suspect a problem with the quality of the water; however, the precautionary boil order was issued to protect the health and safety of the residents affected by this situation," according to the news release.

The boil order is expected to be lifted within 48 hours.

Those affected by the boil order should bring water used for cooking or drinking to a rolling boil for at least five minutes before using.

Samples of the water in the system are being sent to a laboratory for analysis to ensure there are no contaminants present. Those who receive a notice of the boil order will receive a release from the boil order in the same manner, according to the news release.
