Carpentersville Man Faces Child Porn Charges
Sergio L. Rivas, 41, of Carpentersville faces reproducing and possession child pornography.
KANE COUNTY, IL — A 41-year-old Carpentersville man faces child pornography charges following an investigation by authorities in Kane County.
Sergio L. Rivas, of the 7000 block of Lowell Drive, Carpentersville, has been charged with two counts of reproducing child pornography, victim younger than 13 years old; possession of child pornography, victim younger than 13; possession of child pornography; and failure to register as a sex offender.
Authorities say that before Dec. 31, Rivas reproduced and possessed multiple videos and images of child pornography. In addition, he is accused of failing to register social media accounts with the Carpentersville Police Department, which is required as part of the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Rivas was arrested on March 10, and his bail has been set at $300,000. Rivas remains in custody at the Kane County jail. If he posts bond, he is has been ordered to have no contact with anyone younger than 18 years old, according to the news release.
He is next expected in court on March 2.
