Christmas 2017: What's Open, Closed In Algonquin-LITH
From municipal offices to local schools, a look at holiday closings, plus what's open on Christmas.
ALGONQUIN-LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — It's almost time to gather the family and tear into those carefully selected presents (you've finished your shopping, right?). While some people — including employees at some retail stores, as well as emergency responders — will be working on the holiday, many area businesses and offices will be closed, giving workers a day off.
Here's list of what's open and what's closed in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills for Christmas 2017.
- Post office: Closed
- Federal offices: Closed
- Village of Algonquin: City offices are closed. Garbage collection will be delayed a day.
- Lake in the Hills offices: Closed
- McHenry County offices: Closed
- Kane County offices: Closed
- Schools: Closed
- Libraries: Closed
- Banks: Closed
- Gas stations: Open
- Retail stores: Some will be closed, some — including a few area grocery stores — will be open, but check the hours before you go.
