Construction Project to Close Stonegate Road in Algonquin Starting This Week

A .6-mile portion of the roadway will be closed through November.

ALGONQUIN, IL - Stonegate Road in Algonquin will be closed to thru traffic between Sawmill Lane and County Line Road starting on Wednesday, Aug., 31, and continuing through November as construction gets under way on a .6-mile section of roadway, according to a village of Algonquin press release.

The project includes full removal and replacement of existing road surface, including spot curb and gutter, driveway, and sidewalk replacements, according to a news release. The total cost for construction is about $589,000 and is being funded by the village of Algonquin. The project is scheduled to be completed in November.

Detour routes will be posted with thru traffic being detoured to Hanson Road via Harnish Drive and County Line Road. Local traffic will be permitted access to households in the area for the duration of the project.
