Construction Worker Seriously Injured In Algonquin

He was hit by an excavator while working on a bridge in downtown Algonquin, fire officials said.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A construction worker suffered life-threatening injuries after he became pinned between an excavator and a concrete Jersey barrier while working on a bridge in downtown Algonquin Tuesday morning, according to media reports. Fire officials said the man was hit by an excavator in a construction zone just south of the Main Street and Algonquin Road intersection at about 8:30 a.m. He was first transported to an area hospital and then taken by Flight for Life helicopter to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, the Daily Herald reports.
