Coroner IDs Man, 52, Found Dead In Creek
It appears the Elgin man drowned in the West Dundee creek, officials said.
KANE COUNTY, IL — The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified an Elgin man found dead in a creek in West Dundee.
Joseph L. Johnson, Jr., 52, appears to have died from drowning, according to a preliminary cause of death released Wednesday by the coroner's office. Toxicology results are pending in the case, officials said.
The West Dundee Police Department contacted the Elgin Police Department at about 10:50 a.m. on Monday regarding the body found in the Jelkes Creek near South 8th Street and Boncosky Road in West Dundee, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department.

Police removed the body, which was later identified as Johnson, from the water.
