D300 Switches To Remote Learning Plan
The District 300 Board of Education voted Tuesday in favor of remote learning for all of its students through Oct. 19.
CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — District 300 announced Tuesday all students would begin the school year learning remotely, reversing course on an earlier decision to offer in person instruction. The school district also decided to push back its start date with the first day of school now planned for Aug. 17.
Remote learning will continue through Oct. 9, school officials announced Tuesday during an emergency school board meeting.
Two weeks earlier, the school board met and voted in favor of in-person instruction for elementary and middle school students and a hybrid schedule for high school students. District 300 originally expected to start the school year on Aug. 13.

Under it’s earlier plan, District 300 planned to offer in person instruction and increase recess opportunities throughout the day for elementary students. And the original plan for middle schools was to have a modified bell schedule that was meant to minimize traffic in the halls, Heid said during the July 14 hearing.
For high school students, a hybrid schedule was originally approved, which would allow for half of the students to attend in person on any given day while the other half would receive instruction from home.
