District 47 Schools Placed on Lockdown

The lockdown is due to an incident in Crystal Lake.

A soft lockdown is currently in place at three District 47 schools.

Indian Prairie, Glacier Ridge and Woods Creek schools have been placed on lockdown as Crystal Lake police investigate an “off-campus incident in that area of town,” according information posted on the District 47 website.

“While this is a precautionary measure they have asked that we not release students into the area as their investigation is on-going,” according to the District 47 message.

The District 47 message reads:

Students who live in this area who attend LMS are being retained at the building for either a parent pickup or a bus ride home once we are told we can do so. We will continue to work closely with the Crystal Lake Police Department as their investigation continues.

A lockdown was also issued Tuesday within District 300. A shelter-in-place has since been lifted for Lincoln Prairie Elementary School and Jacobs High School, according to the District 300 Facebook page.

District 300 reported school bus routes will be delayed Tuesday afternoon:

Parents are encouraged to use the bus tracker app to monitor the status of their child’s bus route. The Durham Bus Tracker app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Google Play, or directly at m.durhambustracker.com. A parent must have a smart phone or tablet device to download the app.

Crystal Lake police surrounded a home in the 1700 block of Sommerfield Lane Tuesday afternoon for a person who was possibly barricaded inside, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner Facebook page. A possibly armed subject ran into the home after a brief foot chase with officers.

Crystal Lake police have closed Golf Course Road between Village Road and Miller Road, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner Facebook page.
