KANE COUNTY, IL -- A 34-year-old Huntley man accused of driving under the influence of methadone and THC from cannabis in a crash that killed 24-year-old Amanda Matthiessen of Bartlett now faces charges, prosecutors told the Elgin Courier-News. Evan Smorovsky has been charged with reckless homicide and aggravated DUI. Smorovsky is accused of driving his vehicle head-on into a truck during the March crash on Big Timber Road.
Matthiessen was a passenger in Smorovsky's vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities said it was Smorovsky's fourth time driving under the influence. Toxicology reports recently came back and lead to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office filing charges against Smorovsky, according to the article.
