The collision that happened near Marengo in July claimed the lives of a mother, father and their four kids and a family friend.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 22-year-old Carpentersville woman who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 when her car collided head-on with a van — causing a July crash that killed a family of six and a 13-year-old family friend — was under the influence, according to a coroner's report.
Jennifer Fernandez, who also died in the collision, had a blood alcohol concentration of .164, which is more than twice the legal limit, McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein told Patch Tuesday.
