Dual-Language Daycare Center Proposed For Algonquin

The center is hoping to open in a 30,454-square-foot building formerly occupied by Rec Room Furniture on Algonquin Road.

ALGONQUIN, IL -- A new dual-language daycare center that would offer programs in Polish and English could be coming soon to a former furniture store in Algonquin, the Northwest Herald reports. During a Committee of a Whole meeting this past week, trustees approved a request from the center for a special use permit. The permit, which is needed since the center would open in a mainly commercial site, will be up for a formal vote at the village board's Sept. 5 meeting.

The Northwest Herald reports the center is hoping to open in a 30,454-square-foot building formerly occupied by Rec Room Furniture at 1600 E. Algonquin Road, according to the Northwest Herald. The center would offer its dual-language program to ages 3 months to 12 years old.

“We have a significant Polish population in the village, so having a day care that will provide this environment in both languages will be beneficial for the village,” Senior Planner Katie Parkhurst said.
