Emergency Blood Drive Held Wednesday at Algonquin Library
Current inventory levels of blood supply are dangerously low and Heartland Blood Centers turned to the local library for help.

ALGONQUIN, IL - The Algonquin Area Public Library District will host an emergency blood drive at the Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive, from 3 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday. Heartland Blood Centers’ Mobile Coach will be parked in the library’s parking lot. Heartland is the sole provider to 65 hospitals in the Chicagoland area, including all area Veterans Affairs hospitals.
“Heartland let us know that the current inventory levels of blood supply are dangerously low, and they reached out to the library to host a blood drive,” AAPLD Executive Director Stephen Bero said. “We were glad to help.”
The library hosts semi annual blood drives in support of patients in its community and beyond, according to a news release.
