Flash Flood Watch Issued for Chicago Suburbs

The flash flood watch will take effect on Sept. 10 from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Chicago suburbs, effective Sept. 10 from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The watch applies to several Illinois counties, including:

  • Cook
  • DuPage
  • Kane
  • Kendall
  • McHenry
  • Will

The NWS predicts the coming weather system will bring about 2 inches of average rainfall over the region, and some places could get 3 to 5 inches of rain.

The weather service warns that flash flooding can lead to road closures.
