A Fox Lake couple will get a new home as a Christmas present to themselves after winning a $2 million lottery prize.
Chuck Schriver, 54, and his wife Charlene have lived in an apartment in Fox Lake for the past 24 years and are excited to use the recent winnings from their Merry Millionaire instant lottery ticket to upgrade to their first home, according to an Illinois Lottery press release.
“We’ve never had enough space to host a big family Christmas celebration, but we will next year,” Chuck Schriver said.

Chuck Schriver said he treats himself to a Merry Millionaire ticket every year around the holidays. This year’s ticket, which he scratched off in his car, was a winner.
He bought his winning ticket at Minuteman Citgo, 205 North Main Street in Wauconda. The retailer will receive a bonus of $20,000, equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
