MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Funds are being raised to help pay for the funeral expenses of a 42-year-old man who died after he was electrocuted in a farm accident in McHenry County this past week.
So far, around $4,500 has been raised for Dante Rico Cruz, who died on Monday while trying to help a farmer whose tractor hit a power line. The farmer's John Deere 9520RX tractor, which was pulling a Brent 2096 grain cart, made contact with the overhead power lines, causing the lines to come down on it, according to police.
Cruz tried to get onto the tractor to help the farmer and was electrocuted. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
