
McHenry County College is offering free math refresher seminars this fall for new and prospective MCC students.
The purpose of the seminars are to review concepts from Elementary (Algebra I) and Intermediate (Algebra II) for students who either want to prepare for the COMPASS placement exam or review concepts before taking a subsequent course.
The Elementary (Algebra I) upcoming review sessions are: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 in Room A342; 5-9 p.m. Nov. 18 in Room E102; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 in Room A342; and 5-9 p.m. Dec. 17 in Room A226.

The Intermediate (Algebra II) review sessions are: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 in Room A112; 5-9 p.m. Nov. 19 in Room E204; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 23 in Room A112; 5-9 p.m. Dec. 16 in Room A226; and 5-9 p.m. Dec. 18 in Room A226.
“Most students attending one of these sessions scored higher on their COMPASS placement test score. Some were able to place two levels higher,” said Bob Reass, math specialist at MCC.
