Heat Safety Tips: Never Leave Child Unattended in Backseat

With extreme heat in the forecast, the National Weather Service is reminding parents to remember to check their backseat and never leave children unattended in a vehicle.

A child’s body can absorb more heat on a hot day than adult’s body does. And temperatures inside a car on a 90-degree day can climb to 120 to 150 degrees within minutes.

Heatstroke can begin when the core body temperature reaches 104 degrees.

If you see a child left unattended in a backseat, call 9-1-1.
