Holy Hail!: Suburban Hail Reports from Monday Storm
Severe storms Monday brought massive hail to some communities.
A storm that swept the suburbs Monday brought with it hail the size of a half dollar in some communities, according to the National Weather Service.
Weather officials said communities hardest hit by massive hail included:
- Wauconda: Hail measuring 1.75 inches was reported at 7 p.m. on Monday
- Mundelein: Hail measuring 1.5 inches was reported at 7 p.m. on Monday
- Algonquin: Hail measuring 1.25 inches was reported at 7:15 p.m. on Monday
- Vernon Hills: Hail measuring 1.25 inches was reported at 7:15 p.m. on Monday
Several communities reported hail measuring in at 1 inch, including: McHenry, Gurnee, Elgin, Glenview, Harwood Heights and Chicago.
