Human Skull, Other Bones Found In Forest Preserve Prompt Death Investigation
Authorities say remains appear to have been exposed to the elements for an extended period and have not yet been identified.
KANE COUNTY, IL — Authorities have opened a death investigation after human remains were discovered at Raceway Woods Forest Preserve on Sunday, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.
Police were called to the scene after a Carpentersville resident reported finding a skull in a remote, wooded area at the popular forest preserve.
Forest Preserve District of Kane County Director of Public Safety Paul Burger said forest preserve police responded along with the Carpentersville Police Department, the Kane County Coroner’s Office and the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force.
