Labor Unions Endorse Raja Krishnamoorthi for Congress.

Representing over 33,000 Illinois workers, the Illinois State Council of Machinists and the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 2 endorsed Raja Krishnamoorthi’s campaign for Congress to succeed Rep. Tammy Duckworth to represent the 8th District of Illinois that includes the northwest Chicago suburbs.

The unions joined more than 100 Democratic activists, organizations, and leaders supporting Raja for Congress. This includes support from 12 members of Congress. The Illinois Machinists and the Elevator Constructors join Ken Christy, the state president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and OPEIU Local 45 as additional support from organized labor.

In their endorsement, Dave Weaver, President of the Illinois State Council of Machinists, said “Raja Krishnamoorthi’s mission is to help working families reach and hold on to economic security. He will stand up and support policies that create jobs and keep American workers competitive in the 21st century economy. Raja is the best choice to go to Congress to represent our members and workers throughout Illinois’ 8th District. The Illinois State Council of Machinists is proud to endorse Raja’s campaign.”
