Lake In The Hills Police Offering Free Active Shooter Training
The village's police department is teaching people how to prepare, prevent and react during an active shooter event.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Free Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events courses are being offered to the public until the end of November. The Lake in the Hills Police Department will teach people how to prepare, prevent and react during an active shooter situation in a variety of workplace and gathering environments, including religious institutions.
The new course, which will be offered at the Safety Education Center at 1109 Crystal Lake Rd., will provide strategies, guidance and a plan for surviving an active shooter event.
The course was created by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University through detailed and in-depth research into active shooter events over a 14-year span.
