Main Street Hill in Carpentersville Closed After Truck Overturns, Spills Fuel on Road

The Main Street hill and a northbound lane of Route 31 is expected to be closed through this afternoon.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL - The Main Street hill in Carpentersville is expected to be closed through this afternoon after a truck overturned and spilled diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid down the roadway.

The collision happened on Route 31 as the semitrailer attempted to make a right turn onto Main Street/Huntley Road at about 4:52 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Daily Herald. The messy crash left a slick and unsafe surface on the roadway and a company has been hired to clean it up. Until then, the Main Street hill and one northbound lane of Route 31 have been closed.


The truck driver received four citations following the crash, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
