ALGONQUIN, IL — A 36-year-old Algonquin man now faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the deaths of a man and woman. Authorities say Maxim Parnov killed Elvira Almén and Peter Almén before he put Elvira's body in a freezer and Peter's body in a cabinet inside their home in the 400 block of LaFox Drive.

He then used a UHaul truck to transport the freezer and the cabinet, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in McHenry County Circuit Court.

Authorities arrested Parnov on a warrant for concealment of homicide charges Thursday morning in Salem, Wisconsin. On Friday, four additional counts of first-degree murder were filed against Parnov.

The McHenry County Coroner's Office has not yet released the causes of death for Elvira Almén and Peter Almén. Police said earlier this week the killings are related to a domestic violence incident.

Authorities also said the incident was isolated, and they did not believe the public was in danger.

The Algonquin Police Department was initially called to the 400 block of La Fox Drive Tuesday afternoon to conduct a well-being check on Elvira Almén, 56, and Peter Almén, 64. Police were not able to locate them at that time but their bodies were found the next day.

A warrant was then issued for Maxim Parnov's arrest before he was taken into custody in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. Parnov is next expected in court on Dec. 15 for a status hearing.

An investigation into how Peter Almen and Elvira Almén died is ongoing, according to the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
