You likely have seen or heard something about coronavirus on the news recently. To help spread accurate information about this virus, we are sharing information provided by the McHenry County Department of Health, as well as some guidelines to help keep your students and our schools healthy.

Guidance from MCDH states that there are no cases of novel coronavirus in McHenry County, and that if you have not recently traveled to China or been in contact with someone suspected to have the illness, there is no reason for concern at this time.

As with other viruses, one of the best ways to help prevent the spread of illness is to frequently wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available.

In addition, to help keep our schools healthy, children exhibiting flu-like symptoms should remain home and seek medical care if warranted. While this particular virus is not a known danger in this area at this time, this time of year is always difficult for schools, and maintaining good hygiene and health practices is important.
