Set to open the first week of September, in the old Chen’s King Wok restaurant at 335 N. Randall Road, the fast-food style venue will offer healthy menu items.

"I’m trying to start my own concept," said Rahman adding he plans to open more Pita Kabobs in the future. "The Algonquin area had almost every type of restaurant except for this."

How Pita Kabobs Came to Be

After owning several Little Caesars Restaurants, including one in LITH, Rahman came up with the concept for a Mediterranean-style venture and began creating dishes for it.

"Over the years I was in the Middle East — that’s how I got exposed to this food," he said. "Everything we are making we do fresh."

Included on the menu are a variety of vegetarian items, including humus — made of chickpeas, lemon juice and spices — and a Falafel plate, also made with chickpeas.

'We’re keeping a green theme going in the store," he said of the healthy menu.

Grilled items, like chicken, lamb and beef kabobs, are another specialty.

The set-up will be similar to fast food where you can order your food, bring a number to your table and wait for it to be delivered to you, he said.
