'Mega' Pet-Adoption Event This Weekend In Algonquin

ALGONQUIN, IL -- Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin has teamed up with the Petco Foundation and Petco to host a a mega-adoption event, featuring over 30 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, this weekend in Algonquin. The adoption event will be held on Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Algonquin Petco store, 702 S. Randall Road, according to a news release from Anderson Animal Shelter.

“This is a great opportunity to meet some wonderful pets. All sizes, breeds and ages will be available. There’s no waiting period – you can take your new best friend home with you the day you adopt," Maria Schau, offsite adoption coordinator for Anderson, said. "With so many great pets to choose from, at least one is sure to steal your heart.”

Anderson Animal Shelter is the Fox Valley area’s largest and oldest animal shelter, having served the area for
more than 50 years. The shelter cares for more than 5,000 homeless pets each year and conducts adoptions
through its main shelter, located at 1000 S. LaFox Street in South Elgin, as well as at two satellite adoption centers that opened earlier this year.

The Bloomington Adoption Center is located inside the Petco store on Army Trail Road in Bloomington. The North Aurora Adoption Center is located next to Pet Supplies Plus on Randall Road in North Aurora. All three adoption centers are open seven days a week.
