Men Face Charges After Fleeing Police In Huntley
Police were first called to the Walmart for a retail theft. They later arrested two men who fled in a stolen vehicle, police said.
HUNTLEY, IL — Authorities have arrested two Elgin men accused of fleeing Walmart in a stolen vehicle after they were reportedly involved in a retail theft at the store, police said Monday.
Damian Franco, 31, of the 600 block of Grace in Elgin, is charged with aggravated fleeing/eluding, obstructing justice and burglary and Luis Arreola, 35, of the 0 to 100 block of South Crystal Street in Elgin faces aggravated fleeing/eluding, no valid driver's license and disobeyed stop sign charges.
The Huntley Police Department responded to the Walmart, 12300 Route 47, at 2:36 p.m. for a reported retail theft. While they were on their way, authorities learned the suspected thieves had fled in a vehicle, according to the news release.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Elgin, in the area of Mill and Grove streets. The vehicle did stop and both the driver and passenger fled on foot, according to a news release.
Police found one of the men in a nearby garage tampering with a vehicle, authorities said. He was taken into custody at 2:50 p.m.

Police learned a person resembling the second man was spotted stealing a bicycle from a home in the area of Timber Drive at about 3:13 p.m. A short time later, a person wearing a tank top was seen in the area of Sawgrass Drive.
Authorities tracked down the man and arrested him at about 3:17 p.m.
Both Arreola and Franco were taken to the McHenry County Jail.
