Local Woman Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

"I just became a grandma and I was thinking about how nice it would be to give my son some money to help with the baby."

HAMPSHIRE, IL - Kathy Proffitt, a 30-year resident of Hampshire, was at Spee-D-Mart in Hampshire picking up a newspaper when she decided to also buy a lottery ticket.

While she occasionally gets a Bingo or Crossword ticket, she decided to try something new and bought a 100X The Money ticket. This turned out to be a winning decision that put an extra $100,000 in her pocket, according to an Illinois Lottery news release.

Proffitt lives in Hampshire with her husband and has two sons and a grandchild. She plans to share the windfall with her sons, make home improvements and take a vacation.
