An unassuming store front off Main Street in East Dundee, El Faro IV serves authentic Mexican cuisine from a lengthy menu which includes all of your old favorites and some new ones, as well.
Dining in, there is table service, and your meal starts off with complimentary chips, salsa, pico de gallo, and a bowl of pickled vegetables, which I really like, especially because the bowl included an entire bulb of garlic.
I had the three taco plate, and you could choose fillings of steak, ground beef, pork, or chicken. The tacos are much as you would find on the street in Mexico or Southern California, a two smaller tortillas wrapped around the filling.
The plate is accompanied with sour cream, guac, beans and rice. Soft drinks, both Mexican and American are available as is beer.
My plate was $10.50. The food was freshly prepared, tasty and filling.
There seems to be several locations in the NW Suburbs. This one is at 411 E Main. Open til 10 Monday-Friday, later on weekends.
