Opening Of Amazon Warehouse In Huntley Delayed

The 630,000-square-foot building was originally supposed to open this summer but is now slated to open next year.

HUNTLEY, IL — While the exterior of the 630,000-square-foot Amazon building in Huntley is complete, there is still much work that needs to be done on the interior and the opening of the warehouse has been delayed.

The Northwest Herald is reporting Amazon has started work on the interior of the facility, which is located on Freeman Road near Route 47 and Interstate 90, but the warehouse will not open this summer as originally planned. Officials say the building should be open by the end of next year and will serve as a receiving center for large order that will then be re-routed to Amazon fulfillment centers.

The new Amazon warehouse will being more than 1,000 new jobs to Huntley.
