Pace to Extend Elgin Route to Include Algonquin, Crystal Lake

Pace bus service will extend one of its McHenry County routes connecting Elgin and Crystal Lake and include a stop in Algonquin, according to a First Electric Newspaper report.

The bus service will expand the weekday 550 bus route, which runs from the Highland Avenue bus center in Elgin to the city’s Northwest Corporate Park, the report stated.

Details of the route won’t be released until next week, but it’s being called the county’s “first real fixed bus route” by officials, the report stated. The route also could be up and running before Labor Day, the report added.
