Pedestrian Hit By Truck In Kane County, Flown To Hospital

The collision happened Monday evening in the area of Allen and Ketchum roads near Hampshire when a passing truck's mirror hit woman.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 43-year-old Aurora woman walking along the shoulder of Allen Road in rural Kane County Monday evening has been flown to the hospital after being hit by the passenger side mirror of a passing truck, authorities said.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office responded to the collision at about 5:05 p.m. in the area of Allen Road and Ketchum Road in unincorporated Hampshire Township. Police say a Ford F250 pickup truck headed east on Allen Road was rounding a curve when the driver noticed a pedestrian walking near the shoulder of the road.

The truck's passenger side mirror hit the pedestrian, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The driver pulled over and provided aid to the 43-year-old Aurora woman, police said. A helicopter responded to the scene and flew the woman to Advocate Condell Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The truck driver was taken to Sherman Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities say it's unclear if alcohol, drugs or distracted driving played a role in the crash.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and the Kane County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information regarding the collision to call the investigations division at 630-444-1103.
