Popular Run Thru the Hills Race This Weekend in LITH
The 5K and 10K races will run through the rolling terrain around Woods Creek Lake.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - The popular and scenic Run Thru the Hills 5K and 10K races will be held this weekend in Lake in the Hills and organizers are seeking volunteers to help at this year's run. The race starts at 8 a.m. on Sunday at AMC Lake in the Hills 12 Theaters, 311 Randall Road in Lake in the Hills.
The Parks and Recreation Department is in need of on-course volunteers for direction and water stops for the race on April 30 and groups are encouraged to sign up to help, according to a news release from the village of Lake in the Hills. All volunteers receive a volunteer t-shirt. Course hours are 8 to 11 a.m. You can click here to volunteer or contact Kristi Brewer at 847-960-7463.
The race takes runners through the rolling terrain and streets that surround Woods Creek Lake in Lake in the Hills.

There will also be a 5K ruck run and walk rucking where runners must wear a 30-pound pack while running or walking. If you’re rucking for fitness, you don’t need a fancy military-type pack -- any backpack will do and any type of weight inside will too. A weighted vest is also permitted as long as it weighs 30 pounds. US Army Recruiting Center will be rucking with participants to provide support and encouragement during the race course.
Registration will be taken online and on race day starting at 6:30 a.m.
