Portion of Highland Avenue to Close Through December as Construction Work Gets Under Way
Highland Avenue will be closed to traffic between Haegers Bend Road and Tanglewood Drive through December.

ALGONQUIN, IL - The village of Algonquin began construction on an approximately 0.7-mile section of Highland Avenue this past week. The project includes full removal and replacement of existing roadway, installation of curb and gutter, storm sewer and detention area, spot sidewalk removal and replacements, resurfacing of Presidential Park parking lot, and construction of a new trail adjacent to Highland Avenue, according to a village news release.
Highland Avenue will be closed to traffic between Haegers Bend Road and Tanglewood Drive through December. Detour routes are posted with traffic being detoured to Illinois Route 62 (Algonquin Road) via Haegers Bend Road and Countryside Drive.
The total construction cost of this project is approximately $1.9 million and is being funded jointly by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Village of Algonquin, and Village of Barrington Hills. The project is scheduled to be completed in December, with minor restoration work occurring in spring 2017.
