Possible Coronavirus Exposure: 2 D300 Schools To Close 2 Days
Dundee-Crown High School and Perry Elementary School will be closed Thursday and Friday.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — Two District 300 schools will be closed Thursday and Friday after a high school student and the student’s immediate family were told to self-quarantine as health officials await test results for a family member who may have contracted the new coronavirus, according to a statement posted Wednesday afternoon on the District 300 Facebook page.
Dundee-Crown High School and Perry Elementary School, both in Carpentersville, will be closed Thursday and Friday and all after-school activities will be canceled starting Wednesday and continuing through Sunday, Superintendent Fred Heid announced in the statement.

Meanwhile, school officials say the Dundee-Crown student is not showing any signs or symptoms of the virus, according to the statement. The student also has not attended any large gatherings or school events in recent weeks, official said.
Heid said the move to close the school is a “precautionary measure” meant to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
"The closure will allow our team to perform a comprehensive cleaning of the building," Heid said.
An update regarding the test results is to be given to families impacted, and Heid said more information is likely then as well regarding schools reopening or remaining closed.
