Residents Sound Off on Wish List for Algonquin, LITH Improvements

Better business development, traffic flow and more bike paths were all suggested in a recent Facebook poll.

Algonquin and Lake in the Hills have a lot to offer its residents.

But, as we know, no city is perfect. And there is still room for improvement, even in Algonquin and LITH.

We recently took to the Algonquin-LITH Patch Facebook page to learn what needs to be changed or improved in both communities. The responses were well-thought and diverse.

Business development in both communities was a popular response.

“I’d like to see better development along the river front. I’d like to see businesses coming in that the community needs vs LITH focusing on hotels, car dealerships or more medical offices,” Colleen Anne said.

“Create a downtown area that creates the pull of Geneva and St Charles... Shopping, coffee, restaurants, shops, nightlife...” Tami Ford Suwanski added.

Residents suggested the addition of a Mariano’s or Whole Foods.

“Between all of the empty banks, the empty hollywood video, the practically empty medical office across from Thortons, it’s embarrassing to live here these days,” Colleen Anne said.

Other residents said improved traffic flow along Randall and Algonquin roads, and at the intersection of Randall and Algonquin, was needed. Others suggested a bike path along Randall.

“I’d like to see a pedestrian/bike path along Randall Road with a pedestrian bridge over Randall from County Line Road to the Commons,” Tanya Goodman Bavaro said.
