Residents Speak Out Against Longmeadow Parkway Project

Some Algonquin residents spoke out against the thoroughfare at a Carpentersville Village Board meeting Tuesday.

Residents opposed to the Longmeadow Parkway, a 5.6-mile road that would include a four-lane toll bridge, shared their concerns Tuesday at a Carpentersville Village Board meeting, the Daily Herald reports.

Annelise Menoni told trustees her family moved to Algonquin for the open space and quiet and that the new roadway would disturb that peace, according to the Daily Herald. She was among eight people who spoke up in opposition to the project at the Tuesday meeting.

The roadway is slated to run through Algonquin, Carpentersville and Barrington Hills and is meant to alleviate traffic congestion in northern Kane County. The proposed roadway runs from Huntley Road to Route 62.
