Should Vaccines Be Required At Businesses In Algonquin, LITH?
We are asking residents to sound off on whether they think proof of a COVID-19 vaccine should be required.

ALGONQUIN AND LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Do you think vaccines should be required for entrance into business in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills?
In recent week, mandates were enacted in the city of Chicago, suburban Cook County and some municipalities, including Highland Park. Since, the topic of whether vaccines should be required has become one of the latest COVID-19 issues up for debate.
On Monday, three McHenry County residents spoke up in opposition to vaccine requirements at the McHenry County Board of Health meeting.

Corrine Burns, an Algonquin mother to three young children, said her and her husband moved to Algonquin five years ago.
"At that time, I envisioned living here for the next 20 years or so until all of my kids were out of high school ... The vaccine mandate will not convince anyone who is not vaccinated to give in. There are people like me who are so morally opposed to it we will stay home or go to different counties," she said. "My husband and I have deced if this mandate hits McHenry County this will be our final straw.

"How many others do you believe are discussing the same option?" she added.
Village officials in Algonquin say there have been no official discussions regarding a vaccine mandate, and health officials in McHenry County say they haven't heard of any municipalities in the county considering such mandates. Fred Mullard, the village administrator for Lake in the Hills, told Patch in an email response that the village does not require proof of vaccination to enter any business.
