Village Announces Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Award Winner

ALGONQUIN-LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL - From the Village of Lake In The Hills: The Village of Lake in the Hills is excited to announce the following winners of the 2017 Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Awards:

Customer Service: Marie Charles Salon & Spa
Community Service: Jersey Mike’s Subs
Employer of Choice: Advanced Flexible Composites

As a resident, Gordon Larsen was influential in shaping the physical and civic landscape of Lake in the Hills and believed in philanthropic businesses whose success was attributable to exemplary service to employees, customers and the community.

The Village received 89 nominations for 26 different Lake in the Hills businesses. Nominations were accepted through November 14, 2017.

The winning businesses were recognized at the January 11, 2018 Village Board meeting. The businesses will receive recognition throughout 2018 in various Village publications, including ad space, social media campaigns, and more.

Applications/Nominations for the 2018 Gordon Larsen Business Achievement Awards program will be accepted throughout the year.

Jersey Mike’s raised and donated over $12,000 in 2017 to local schools and organizations including the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Food Pantry, Lincoln Prairie Elementary, Jacobs High School, Crystal Lake South, Huntley High School, and Dundee Middle School. Additionally, the Lake in the Hills location raised $6,700 for the Laurie Children’s Hospital. It was the #1 location out of 44 Jersey Mike’s Subs in Illinois. The Lake in the Hills franchise group made up only 17% of the market but raised 63% of the total sales for the fundraiser. Managers got involved by purchasing and receiving donated teddy bears. They took 4 separate trips to go the Children's Hospital and pass out the Teddy Bears to the kids.

This is Jersey Mike’s Subs second time winning the award. They previously won in 2012.

Marie Charles Salon and Spa

Marie Charles Salon and Spa was established in Lake in the Hills in November of 2015. The salon received 20 nominations this year for customer service. The nominations highlighted above and beyond service, such as extending hours and accommodating difficult schedule.

This is Marie Charles Salon and Spa’s first time receiving the award.

AFC received a substantial number of quality nominations from its employees. AFC received 16 nominations, currently employs 135 people at the Lake in the Hills location, and continues to offer full benefits and invest in their employees. AFC will celebrate their 30 year anniversary in 2018.

This is AFC’s second year winning the Employer of Choice category.
