Violent Crime Holds Steady in Algonquin, Increases in LITH: FBI Report
The FBI has released the 2014 Unified Crime Report.

The FBI recently released its annual ”Crime in the United States” report, which includes information about Crystal Lake and Cary.
According to the report, Algonquin saw 18 violent crimes in 2014, which is the same amount of violent crime reported in the village in 2013. Violent crime includes offenses involving force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault, according to the FBI.

Of the violent crimes reported in 2014, there was one rape, three robberies and 14 aggravated assaults. Other crime stats for Algonquin include 447 property crimes, 29 burglaries, 413 reports of larceny/theft and seven reports of arson.
Lake in the Hills saw a slight increase in violent crimes. There were 17 reports of violent crimes in 2014 while 2013 saw 15 violent crimes in the village. Of the violent crimes reported in 2014, five were rapes, six were robberies and six were aggravated assaults.

Nationally, violent crime decreased last year by 0.2 percent from 2013, according to the report.
