127th Street And Rt. 83 Water Main Installation Delayed Indefinitely
IDOT officials said the Cal-Sag Channel detour will be in place indefinitely due to damage to unmarked fiber optic cable.

ALSIP, IL — The project to replace a water main beneath the intersection of 127th Street and Illinois Route 83 will be suspended. The Cal-Sag Channel detour at the intersection will be in place indefinitely. Illinois Department of Transportation officials blamed the delay on damage to unmarked and unknown fiber optic cable. The project was to have been completed Nov. 18.
According to IDOT, the utility company is making the required repairs. IDOT’s Utility Division Permit Division has requested this repair work to be repaired immediately.
“The utility company is aware of the severity of this inconvenience to the traveling public and Alsip Village Emergency Services.”
