CALUMET PARK, IL -- Two Markham men were arrested and charged in connection to a shooting on I-57 last month that left three people wounded, including two children. Christian Plummer, 23, and Jonathan E. Thompson, 24, have each been charged with attempted murder. A third man was also arrested, Jamar Washington, 23, of Matteson, but has not been charged in connection to the shooting, Illinois State Police said.

During the afternoon of Feb. 4, the occupants of a vehicle, later identified as Plummer and Thompson, fired upon another car on I-57 near the 127th Street exit in Calumet Park, Illinois State Police said. Three of four people inside the vehicle being shot upon were wounded, including a 38-year-old man, two boys, ages 15 and 13. The man was reported to be in critical condition at the time of the shooting; the boys were taken to a hospital in stable condition. An 8-year-old girl riding in the vehicle was not wounded but was taken to a hospital to be checked out.

ISP investigators said they arrested Plummer on March 14 without incident. While executing a search warrant at Plummer’s home, police seized a cache of weapons which Plummer illegally had in his possession, ISP said. These included a .223 AR-15 rifle, a Mac-10, two rifles, and one shotgun. Plummer is currently being held without bail following a bond hearing.
