Alsip Businesses Will Deck Pulaski for Holiday Shopping Event

The fourth annual 'Holiday on Pulaski' gets underway Dec. 9, featuring entertainment, refreshments and giveaways.

ALSIP, IL -- The Village of Alsip are hoping to entice area shoppers to spend some of their holiday dollars at Alsip businesses at the fourth annual “Holiday on Pulaski,” this Friday, Dec. 9. The community yuletide event runs from 5 to 9 p.m.

Pulaski Road between 115th and 120th streets will be turned in a veritable winter wonderland, where stores and shops will be offering coupons, refreshments and coupons. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their windows for the holiday.

A free shuttle bus will be available to ferry shoppers to stores and other activities featuring entertainment, refreshments and giveaways. Goodie bags are available to the first 400 people.

"This just gets keeps growing every year," said Tr. Lynn Dwyer, who spearheaded the event as a way to promote Alsip businesses during the holidays. "We've added a laser show finale. We're doing a tribute to veterans and to our men and women in blue. We've also added another carriage and there will be events at Taco Bell and McDonald's."


There is Yuletide merriment for all ages, including a holiday train, fire safety house, carriage rides, a laser light show, tree lighting, carolers and store promotions. Santa will be putting in an appearance, along with Those Funny Little People.

The Prairie Junior High School Band and Choir will sing the songs of the season, along with crafts and games for children. Forty craft vendors will also be selling unique gifts and wares in heated tents.
