Alsip Man Discharges Gun, Claims Masked Burglar Did It in Fake 911 Call: Prosecutor
Gun was on top of fridge when it accidentally discharged, prosecutor said.

ALSIP, IL -- An Alsip man was arrested after he made a fake 911 call about a masked burglar firing a gun inside his home, prosecutors said Tuesday in court.
Preston Dixon, 22, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on felony charges of reckless discharge of a gun and disorderly conduct, and a misdemeanor charge for unlawful use of a weapon with no FOID card or conceal-carry permit.
The prosecutor said Dixon called 911 on Nov. 14 to report there was a masked burglar inside his home in the 4000 block of West 127th Street in Alsip. Dixon allegedly said the burglar filed a gun through the kitchen door.

Dixon later admitted to police that he had been reaching for the gun that was on top of the refrigerator, which accidentally discharged sending a bullet through the kitchen door and lodging in the bathroom, the prosecutor said.
The judge set bail at $10,000. He was ordered to surrender all weapons. Dixon’s next court hearing is Dec. 12 in Bridgeview.
