Alsip Park District Hiring Day Camp Counselors For Summer 2020

ALSIP, IL -- The Alsip Park District is hiring summer camp counselors for the 2020 season. Applicants must be at least 18 and display responsibility, leadership, creativity and had good communication skills. Applications must be submitted and returned by to the Apollo Recreation Center. Preference will be given to those candidates, who submit applications before March 30, 2020.

Camp counselors are required to act as a substitute parent, educator and friend to help campers ages 4 to 15 learn teamwork, cooperation, respect and make new friends. Camp is held Monday through Friday from June 8 though July 29, 2020, and additional opportunities to work an extended camp from Aug. 3 to Aug. 14. There will be no camp on July 4.

Mandatory training for camp counselors will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., June 1 through June 5, which includes CRP/AED and First Aid training. Candidates must also be able to pass a drug screen.

Alsip Park District will be hiring 25 summer day camp counselors and six group leaders, depending on enrollment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Alsip Park District Employee Handbook and the Summer Camp Staff Manual.
• Performs emergency First Aid and CPS as needed and in accordance with recreational programs. (Must obtain certification in both before camp starts.)
• Some positions may supervise counselors in training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Some positions may require driving a 15-passeger van/bus.
